Cyberpunk 2077 is an action role-playing game played from a first-person perspective as V, a mercenary whose voice, face, hairstyles, body type and modifications, background and clothing can be customized. The stat categories – Body, Intelligence, Reflexes, Tech and Cool – are affected by the character classes players take, which are NetRunner (hacking), Techie (machines) and Solo (combat). V must consult "ripperdoc" when upgrading and purchasing cyberware implants; black markets offer military grade capabilities. The rarity of any given piece of equipment is represented by a system of color tiers. V can cover, aim, run, jump, double jump and slide. Melee attacks can be dealt with melee weapons. There are three types of ranged weapons, all of which can be customized and modified – Strength (standard), Tech (which penetrates walls and enemies) and Clever (with homing bullets). Ranged weapons are equipped to deflect projectiles in the direction of the target and slow them down at the time of the projectile. Four types of damage can be inflicted and resisted – physical, thermal, EMP and chemical. Using weapons increases accuracy and reload speed, which is reflected in character animations. Riflemen repair and upgrade weapons. The game can be completed without killing anyone, with non-lethal options for weapons and cyberware.

The open-world metropolis of Night City consists of six regions; corporate downtown, immigrant-populated Watson, upscale Westbrook, suburban Heywood, gang-infested Pacifica, and industrial Santo Domingo. Its surroundings, the Badlands, can also be explored. V moves around these locations on foot and in vehicles that are the subject of a third or first person view. Pedestrians are prone to collisions with vehicles. Depending on the location, law enforcement may be notified if V commits a crime. Radio stations are available for listening. The day-night cycle and dynamic weather affect the behavior of non-player characters (NPCs). In own apartment and garage. Night City features non-English speaking characters whose languages can be translated using special implants. "Braindance" is a device that allows V to undergo other people's experiences. Branching dialogs allow interaction with NPCs and actions in quests. Experience points are earned from main quests and boost stats; side quests bring "street cred", unlocking skills, vendors, locations and other quests. Quests are obtained from characters known as Fixers. Throughout the game, V is assisted by various companions. Consumables such as soft drinks are used for healing and items can be checked in V's inventory. Minigames include hacking, boxing, car racing, martial arts, and shooting ranges. The player's choices in the game can lead to different endings.

*CD Projekt Red settles Cyberpunk 2077 rough launch lawsuit for $1.85M*

As reported by GameSpot, CD Projekt Red will pay investors who bought shares between January 16, 2020 and December 17, 2020, settlement administration costs, taxes, attorneys' fees and more.

Investors filed a class-action lawsuit in 2020, claiming that CD Projekt Red hid the status of Cyberpunk 2077 from them after the game launched with several bugs that, at least on consoles, made the game unplayable for many.

Following the game's launch, several lawsuits were filed against CD Projekt Red, one of which was settled in December 2021 for the same amount of $1.85 million.

Cyberpunk 2077 remained riddled with bugs for several months and as a result was completely removed from the PlayStation Store, only returning in June 2021. However, CD Projekt Red has updated the game several times since then, leading to some resurgence in its player-base and even price Labor of Love on Steam earlier in January.

The biggest leap forward for Cyberpunk 2077 probably started in February 2022 with the launch of the next generation update or version 1.5 for PC players, which brought several bug fixes and even free DLC to the game.

This theme continued in September, when developer CD Projekt Red released an Edgerunners update to go alongside the launch of the anime series (which itself was praised by fans and critics alike). It also announced the Phantom Liberty expansion, due to launch this year, and continued to build excitement by revealing that its sequel, codenamed Orion, is also on the way.
